Wood Refinishing Tips, or What not to do when refinishing wood

Here are a few things I learned lately when attempting my first wood refinishing project.

• do not sand wood when wet
• do not sand against the grain on an internal edge, you will never get the scratches out
• do not use wood filler that is a different color than your stain
• if you are slow at applying stain and want a light color, do not buy a dark stain
• if you are slow at applying Polyurethane, do not buy the fast drying type

Another Weekday Evening

Here is a synopsis.

Mom and dad and 3 kids swallow dinner real fast.
Mom drops off kid 1 at baseball game.
Mom drops off kid 2 at gymnastics practice.
Mom returns to watch kid 1 baseball game.
Dad drops off kid 3 at soccer practice.
Dad meets mom at kid 1 baseball game and watches twenty minutes of game.
Dad picks up kid 2 from gymnastics.
Dad picks up kid 3 from soccer and goes home.
Mom takes kid 1 home from baseball game and picks up ice cream at store.
Mom and Dad and 3 kids meet at home with grandma and grandpa for quick birthday party for kid 2.
Mom and dad get 3 kids bathed and put to bed.
Mom and dad crash for the night.
Mom and dad wake up for another busy day.

Although this was a busier than ordinary night, it is typical of life at this moment in time.

See you in another six months.

For example, running out of the house because you are late for a soccer game and forgetting the ball cap or running out of the house and forgetting the cap because you are late for a T-ball game or running out of the house and forgetting the cap because you are late for an outdoor birthday party.
